Add Granada to your itinerary when exploring Spain’s southern Andalusian region. Surrounded by snowy mountain peaks and evergreen forests, its natural beauty speaks for itself. Clinging to the hilltops lies the Alhambra, one of the most spectacular palaces across the continent and an absolute must on any trip here.
Ancient Roman ruins and tapas bar crawls unfold before your eyes in Zaragoza, one of the best-kept secret destinations in Spain. Despite its convenient location nestled between Barcelona and Madrid, this city still flies under the radar. For a taste of local culture and losing yourself in stunning architecture, this is it.
Spain enjoys a diverse climate, with snowy mountain peaks in the north and a Mediterranean coastline in the south. Summers tend to be hot and dry throughout much of the country. Average temperatures vary in Spain depending on the season and destination.
December to February is the coldest time of year. Temperatures in the north typically range from 6°C to 10°C, while in the south, they reach highs of 17°C. July to August are the hottest months, with temperatures typically reaching at least 30°C throughout the country.
The best time to visit on our Spain tours depends on your travel preferences. The spring and autumn months, from April to June and September to November, are ideal for sightseeing, with slightly cooler temperatures. As this is Spain’s “shoulder season”, it is also less busy.
Summers in Spain can be dreamy, especially if you’re looking to visit the beaches or enjoy the sunshine. Winters in Spain can also be an amazing time of year for city sightseeing.
Spanish culture is warm and lively, with a more laid-back attitude towards punctuality and later dining times. Affectionate greetings are common between Spanish people. This country is especially famous for its love of food, and so trying tapas (or ‘pintxos’ if you are visiting the Basque Country in Spain) is an absolute must on our Spanish trips.
Spain is also known for its arts, architecture and football. From nightlife to nature, there is something for everyone inside this iconic destination. Did you know that Spain celebrates the largest tomato-throwing festival (‘La Tomatina’) in the world?

Spanish is the official language of Spain, and several autonomous communities within Spain also have their own language (such as Catalonian for Catalonia). Some English is also spoken in Spain’s most popular destinations.
While tipping in Spain is not customary, it is certainly appreciated and can be a nice way of showing that you enjoyed the service. 10 to 15% is the standard amount if you choose to tip.
