Egypt enjoys a hot desert climate, with warm, dry weather throughout the year. During the winter, temperatures are mild in the day with colder nights. Rainfall is infrequent throughout the year. January is the coldest month in Egypt, with average temperatures of around 15℃. Meanwhile, July and August are typically the hottest months of the year, with temperatures often hitting 40℃.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit on our Egypt trips comes down to preference. October to April is the most popular time of year, perfect for travellers seeking out winter sun and sightseeing in comfortably warm temperatures. The months of May and September are your chance to experience Egypt’s shoulder season. June to August is typically the hottest time of year in Egypt, with the hottest temperatures, and it is great for beach breaks and River Nile cruises.

Customs & Culture

Egyptian culture is traditional and exciting. This country is home to breathtaking archaeological sites, including the Great Pyramid of Giza, the last remaining Ancient Wonder of the World. Some cultural customs include dressing modestly, removing shoes before entering homes or religious sites, and haggling at the local markets. On our Egypt trips, your trip leader is there to advise you regarding cultural customs.

Entry requirements and visa regulations are different for every destination and your purpose of travel. We recommend staying updated on the latest official information before you go travelling. Your passport should be undamaged and have enough blank pages for stamps and visas. Many countries require your passport to have at least 6 months of validity beyond the date of entry.

Travellers are encouraged to dress modestly in Egypt. Long, lightweight layers designed to keep you cool in the warm weather are ideal. Packing a headscarf is highly recommended. Packing a light fleece or jacket is also handy for the colder nights.

Alcohol can be purchased from select tourism establishments, such as hotels, resorts and licensed shops or restaurants. However, not all restaurants will serve it.

The best time to visit Egypt depends on your travel preferences. October to April is very popular for its comfortably warm temperatures, making it ideal for sightseeing. May and September are great months to experience Egypt’s shoulder season. The height of summer (June to August) welcomes very hot temperatures.

Arabic is the main and official language of Egypt. Some English is also spoken in more popular tourist areas.
