As the biggest country in South America, Brazil enjoys a wildly diverse climate ranging from the tropical Amazon Rainforest in the north to more temperate weather down south. Much of Brazil experiences 4 seasons, and as a Southern Hemisphere destination, this is in the reverse order to the UK (so it’s perfect for some winter sun!).
The hottest month of the year in Brazil is typically February. Temperatures hit at least 30°C during this time of year. Meanwhile, Brazil’s coldest month tends to be July. During this time, you can expect temperatures of around 18°C in Rio.
The best time to visit on our Brazil trips comes down to preference. December to March is the most popular time of year, thanks to the sunny weather, best enjoyed along Brazil’s beautiful beaches (you’re spoiled for choice!). February or March can be especially popular each year when Carnival arrives, with colourful parades and costumes all over the country!
Brazil’s shoulder season from April to October can also be an amazing time to explore, especially if you prefer cooler temperatures and lower prices. Destinations such as Rio are typically warm all year round.
Brazil is a diverse and exciting destination, home to a huge melting pot of cultures uniting Indigenous, African and Portuguese influences. What makes Brazil unique is that it is the biggest country in South America and the only one to have Portuguese as its official language instead of Spanish!
The culture of Brazil is warm, friendly and welcoming. Punctuality is generally relaxed here. Music, football and festivals play a huge part in Brazilian culture, with Carnival (typically held around February to March) being one of the biggest celebrations in the world!
